The Passover leading up to Easter is the beginning of Christian’s ‘Holy Week.’ Traditionally the Passover is celebrated by families of Jewish faith all over the world to commemorate the deliverance of Israel who lived in Goshen, Egypt as slaves under the hands of Pharaoh.
The families gather on Passover to share a meal known as the ‘Seder’. According to Sandra Teplenski – Messianic Minister. “It is a time where God revives faith and releases grace for protection, purity, power and prophecy.”
The story of the Passover is part of the Hebrew bible which is also part of the Old Testament in the Christian bible and therefore is embraced by Christians today as one of the seven Levitical feasts where God showed himself as the almighty protector and deliverer of his people against the resistant forces of evil.
The Passover and exodus foreshadows a future deliverance and redemption for all those who believe in God through Jesus Christ. It also shows that God is for us and not against us. Jesus was a member of the Jewish community. In preparation for His crucifixion shared a Seder as the last supper meal with the disciples.
Luke 22:13-15 When the hour had come, Jesus reclined at the table with His apostles. And He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before My suffering. For I tell you that I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”…
Salvation that only comes through Jesus Christ and is often likened to the story of the Passover where the Hebrews went from slavery to freedom. God is mighty to save and His Spirit is ever-present to deliver us out of the bondage of sin.
If you struggle with certain sin, confess your struggles to God who not only hears us but also delivers us from bondages and strongholds.
A PRAYER OF FAITH
Dear Father in Heaven,
Thank you for all you do for me and for showing yourself as a holy and mighty God who can deliver us out of the hands of the oppressor. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and rose to life on the third day. Come in to my heart and forgive me of (all) my sins (or name your sin), cleanse me and make me whole. Fill me with your Holy Spirit that was made available to all who believe in your son Jesus Christ and help me to follow you all the days of my life so that I am no longer enslaved to sin.
Amen.
