Simple Ways To Energise Our Minds & Bodies For Work - aifc

Feeling flat after returning to work after a long holiday break makes it hard to get back into the swing of things when our brain cogs are trying to regain momentum.  Sitting in front of the television after a day at work with a remote control in hand can be a tempting & unhealthy habit to form.

Here Are A Few Things We Can Do For Some Real Lasting Energy

Eating healthy nutritious food and undertaking regular exercise helps beat that sluggish feeling.  Improve circulation to all areas of the body with regular exercise to gain mental health benefits.

Here are some forms of exercise we can undertake to keep us looking and feeling healthy and energetic.

  1. Walk or Run – consider heading out for a walk or a run after work. Walking is low impact for those who prefer to take a less strenuous form of exercise. Take your dog along if you have one. Dog’s are great company and you can both keep fit.
  2. Join a Gym – Use equipment such as weights, treadmills, rowing machines and the majority of gyms have fitness programs and personal trainers available at extra cost.
  3. Ride a Bike – Bike riding has been said to not feel like exercise because it’s so enjoyable. Take in the scenery as you travel faster through longer distances.
  4. Swim – Doing laps at the pool after work exercises all the muscle groups. Swimming can also be really exhilarating and uplifting. Low impact swimming or water aerobics is available at most local pools.
  5. Take Up a Team Sports – There are loads of different sports programs running by community groups in most areas on an annual basis. Some of those might run seasonal.  Tennis, swim squad, touch footy, Oz tag, netball and soccer are but a few of the sporting activities available.  Search for one online nearest you.

Eating the Right Foods

Start the new year with good eating habits.  A healthy balanced diet is beneficial for your whole body and brain to function at its peak.

  1. Good Nutrition – Eat plenty of vegetables to clean out your body and detoxify your liver. Balance your diet with a good variety of healthy foods.  Good nutrition is vital for looking after our bodies for a long healthy life coupled with a regular exercise routine.
  2. Stay Hydrated – drink plenty of water.  Without the right amount of water daily our body will not be working at optimum capacity. A lack of water or dehydration can be quite dangerous to our health.  It can also make us feel extremely tired and unwell.  Drinking at least 2 Litres of water a day is said to be the ideal amount of water intake for an adult.

After a few weeks the benefits of looking after yourself will begin to show.
