The Advanced Diploma provides an environment where students will develop their professional skills to integrate counselling and coaching for holistic client support. aifc aims to train Christian counsellors and coaches who ethically and effectively integrate their faith and practice.

This course has been specifically designed for students with Diploma qualifications in counselling, coaching and other related community services qualifications (refer to entry requirements) 

The Advanced Diploma is structured to have three specific goals for students, including:

  • Equipping students with the skills and knowledge to integrate counselling and coaching skills to support their clients in healing from past hurts and concerns and coaching them forward to meet their personal goals. 
  • Equipping students to establish a thriving business with a diverse offering for client care and income streams. 
  • Taking students on a journey of Christian Spiritual Formation to equip them to live out their faith in practice. 

 

The course has two speciality streams, counselling or coaching. Students will choose which stream to undertake at enrolment, with elective units tailored to the chosen specialty.

Delivery

11207NAT Advanced Diploma of Integrative Practice is delivered online over 18 months (and 12 months for the counselling stream). aifc is intentional in creating a vibrant and engaging learning community for students. Students have the option of completing all of their training with aifc online, complementing and supplementing their online training activities with the highly recommended seminar days, occurring for one Friday and Saturday of each term, providing a blended learning experience.

Our online systems and processes enable students to study online from anywhere in the world that has a reliable high-speed internet connection. Through the use of video conferencing and learner management platforms, students receive online training lectures, support from staff, and connection with other students to complete practical assessment requirements in an effective and practical manner.

Our courses are delivered through live, interactive online training for each unit of competency; these training sessions are recorded for your convenience if you cannot attend live. In addition to specific training for each unit, each term, aifc delivers a live skills-based seminar online or face-to-face. Students are required to attend a certain percentage of seminar days based on their course progression, which will allow them to develop skills and work alongside other students in the aifc community.

Friday of the seminar is a student-focused day, offering opportunities such as further practical skills practice, role-play observations of relevant unit content, and the opportunity to complete any current practical assessment tasks. Saturday’s seminar is an ‘aifc community day’ open to current students, aifc alumni and the wider community. Subject matter experts, guest speakers and staff members will share sessions and workshops relevant to our accredited courses’ training material and also as professional development for practising counsellors. Again, this presents another value-add and recommended opportunity for our students to engage further in their course content.

Entry Criteria
All students are required to provide a proof of identity document. (a certified copy of drivers license or passport). Be of a mature age (over 18 years)

Entry to this qualification is open to prospective learners who hold either nationally recognised training products or non-accredited courses including:

  • hold a Diploma of Counselling or higher
  • hold the non-accredited Certificate of Christian Coaching with the Australian Institute of Family Counselling

           And have a high level of language and literacy levels sufficient to:

                   ○  interpret documents and published articles
                   ○  communicate clearly 

  • hold a Diploma of Youth Work or higher 
  • hold a Diploma of Community Services or higher

With this integrated approach, the advanced diploma has four specific goals for students:

The advanced Diploma in Integrative Practice is designed to support the ongoing journey of students into professional practice that offers holistic client support. We know it can be daunting to decide on your next steps and make the transition into a thriving career. With a strong practical focus, this course provides the opportunity and support to do that in a way that equips you to ethically and effectively integrate your faith and practice.

For graduates of a Diploma in either counselling, coaching or other related community service (refer to the entry requirements), there are two speciality streams, counselling and coaching, so you can tailor your learning to align with your practice goals, whether they be in ministry, private practice or employment. 

Integrating counselling, coaching, and spiritual formation is a unique approach to a practice framework, support the diverse and often complex needs of clients as they heal from past concerns and develop meaningful ways to move towards their personal goals.
