Come Follow Me - Weekly Devotion - With Susan Daniel - aifc

Come Follow Me

Jesus called out to them and said, “Come and follow me, and I will transform you into men who catch people for God”. Matthew 4:19 TPT.

I heard the following statement on the weekend: Follow the Jesus who said: Seek ye first the kingdom of God.

Reflecting on this brings the realisation that we can too easily have distractions take our focus. Seeking at times is being still and at other times it is stepping out in faith to follow Him, even when we can’t see the next step or work it all out. Let’s be people who follow Him so we don’t become distracted and find ourselves off course (Proverbs 4:25-27).

Reflection: How is my relationship with Him? Am I able to prioritise spending time with Him, to hear His voice and know where He is leading? Am I seeking Him?

What is bringing you joy? Celebrate Him. What overwhelms you? Is there anything distressing you? These are times when it can be easy to seek an answer rather than Jesus.

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to Me. I will refresh your life for I am your oasis.” Matthew 11:28 TPT

Fortunately, there is no condemnation when we get our priorities back to front. Rather, there is that beautiful, gentle voice saying: Come, follow Me… Come unto Me…
