A New Era for Christian Counsellors:

One Pathway, Endless Possibilities

There’s good news for those called to help others heal. Australia’s counselling profession is entering a new era with the introduction of the National Standards for Counsellors — a landmark step that brings clarity, consistency, and credibility to the profession.

These standards affirm what we’ve always known at aifc: counselling is both a vocation and a sacred trust. It requires not only skill and knowledge, but also wisdom, character, and care.

And while these new standards are transforming how counselling is taught and recognised across Australia, aifc has been ready for this moment all along.

The aifc Difference

At aifc, we don’t just train counsellors — we form them.
As Australia’s leading training provider of Christian Counsellors for over 30 years we provide you with a unique offering – a fully integrated 1–2–3 pathway from Diploma to Graduate Diploma to Masters, with guaranteed supervised placements for every student through the Centre for Human Flourishing.

Our approach is unique because everything connects:

  • Integrated 1–2–3 Pathway: A seamless journey from first steps to mastery — academically and spiritually.
  • Guaranteed Placements: Every student meets the National Standards’ supervised practice requirements without the stress of finding their own placement.
  • Faith at the Core: Formation isn’t an add-on; it’s the heartbeat of how we teach, mentor, and supervise.
  • National Recognition: Our qualifications meet the new National Standards for Counsellors, preparing you for professional practice and membership.
  • Support and Flexibility: Learn and grow in a community with study options that suit your lifestyle and stage at a price you can afford

At aifc, you don’t just gain a qualification. You become the kind of counsellor the world needs — professionally equipped, spiritually grounded, and personally whole.

A Pathway That Shapes the Whole Person

Our 1–2–3 Christian Counselling Pathway is designed to help you grow in wisdom and practice at every stage:

  • Diploma of Counselling (CHC51015):
Learn the foundations of helping people through a Christian worldview.
  • Graduate Diploma of Counselling:
Deepen your understanding, refine your approach, and apply advanced skills under supervision.
  • Master of Counselling:
Complete your professional formation through our Higher Education partners and prepare for leadership in counselling, ministry, or community care.

Each step flows naturally into the next — forming you holistically for professional and ministry-based practice.

Formation for Flourishing

Our training doesn’t stop at skills. It shapes the heart. We call this formation for flourishing — a process that integrates personal growth, professional competence, and spiritual formation.

Through supervised practice at the Centre for Human Flourishing, you’ll gain real-world experience in a faith-based environment that nurtures both your confidence and your calling. This is where learning becomes transformation.
